Rebecka and I decided to walk over to Magpie Coffeehouse for lunch today. Yes, that’s right. Walk! We can walk everywhere we need to go: food co-op, grocery store, restaurants, coffeehouses, church, school, library, movie theater, you name it!. (Of course, I have to drive 200+ miles to get to work, but that’s another story.)
I took a couple of pictures along the way. Our next door neighbor has pink flamingos in his yard. One fell over.
We can walk to this!! Decorah has a great downtown, which exists primarily along one street called Water Street. Whoever named the streets was just a little off on which street would become the main commerce street. Main Street is just south of Water. In fact, the above picture is taken from Main Street.
Not only is Decorah quaint and progressive, it’s artsy as well! The Clay Studio is one of several artist hangouts and galleries in town. How many small towns have a community pottery studio? I just feel so lucky to be here.
Now we’re inside where it’s warm, sipping chai tea latte & IZZE and just enjoying the fact that it’s Sunday in Decorah.
Looking forward to the walk back…
