This afternoon I biked over to Java Johns, one of my favorite coffee shops here in Decorah (OK, there are only like three coffee shops in town, but I don’t want to be partial…).
Even though I was trying to tune out the voices around me, I overheard a woman at the booth behind me saying “How much is enough?” in a soft yet determined voice.
I smiled.
Every time I hear somebody question the consumption-happy (but sad) spiral we have created for ourselves as a culture, my hope for a brighter future grows stronger.
Let’s keep the conversation going. At home, at school, at church, at work, and, most importantly, at the coffee shop.
