In an attempt to show off my Internet marketing skills, I updated my website last year to be more “professional” with a standard homepage and all the right menu items. I wanted to make sure that people would know that I was a health coach and discover my services.
During this update, I moved my writing into a “blog” section of my website, only to be accessed if somebody was interested enough to read on.
I liked the new look in a way, but it didn’t feel like me. It didn’t highlight my writing, which is truly what matters most to me.
Then this weekend I started thinking about simplifying things (even more) as I prepared a simple living class for my “Make Time for Health” series. I realized that I needed to simplify my website and get back to the basics of featuring my writing.
I’d had my eye on a new WordPress theme from StudioPress called Sixteen Nine. I was one error message away from buying it. When that error happened, I decided to go check out a free theme developed by Leo Babauta. I love how minimalistic his themes areāand how they focus on the writing.
I decided to go with it. (Free is nice.)
So, now my blog looks a lot like Leo’s blog, but I’m OK with that. Because the reading experience is optimized and it will inspire my writing as well.
I hope you like it!
